Who is responsible for the information available on the Europass certificates?

The information on the Europass Certificate Supplements is exclusively published by the federal ministry departments responsible for the respective vocational training. The Austrian National Reference Point Qualifications (NRP) maintains the database of the Europass Certificate Supplements and is the first point of contact for any questions on this topic.

For which types of school can graduates obtain such Europass Certificate Supplements?

The Europass Certificate Supplements have been provided for vocational schools. Graduates of such vocational schools and all types of professional secondary schools (including any special types) as well as schools for the nursing professions receive this Europass Certificate Supplement together with their final reports. By contrast, the graduates of general secondary schools receive no such information as yet. For post-secondary education (such as universities, colleges of higher education and academies) the Europass Diploma Supplement can be obtained, providing an overview of all knowledge and skills acquired in the course of studies and added to the final university certificate.

How many Europass Certificate Supplements are there?

Currently, app. 1500 Europass Certificate Supplements are available via this website, the majority of which are in English. For specific types of schooling (so-called Schulversuche) not yet integrated into the regular school system, no such Europass Certificate Supplements have been provided.

Can the Europass Certificate Supplement be regarded as a substitute for the original certificate?

The Europass Certificate Supplement is no substitute for the original certificate. It is issued together with the original vocational certificate and helps to describe and evaluate the skills and abilities obtained in the course of the respective vocational training.

Does the Europass Certificate Supplement automatically guarantee the formal recognition of the respective certificate in another country?

The Europass Certificate Supplement does not guarantee the formal recognition of vocational education certificates in foreign countries.
